Threadcrumb Privacy Policy
Effective Date: April 25, 2026
Threadcrumb is a Chrome browser extension that helps you save and
organize content from AI chat conversations. This policy explains
what data Threadcrumb handles and how.
What Threadcrumb stores
Threadcrumb saves the following information locally on your
device only, using Chrome’s built-in storage API:
- The text, code, and content you choose to save from AI chat
conversations
- Titles and metadata about your saved items (type, tags, notes)
- The URL of the chat each save came from, so you can return to it
- Optional comments you write on chat messages
- Your settings and preferences (theme, sort order, etc.)
What Threadcrumb does NOT do
- Threadcrumb does not collect, transmit, or store any of your
data on any server
- Threadcrumb does not use analytics, telemetry, or tracking
- Threadcrumb does not share your data with any third party
- Threadcrumb does not require an account or login
- Threadcrumb does not access your AI conversations except when
you explicitly click to save content
Permissions Threadcrumb requests, and why
- storage: To save your items locally on your device
- tabs: To open the source chat when you click “Jump to”
- scripting: To inject the save button into supported AI
chat sites
- activeTab: To act only on the tab you’re using when you
click the extension
- downloads: To let you export your saves as files
- clipboardWrite: To copy continuation prompts to clipboard
- sidePanel: To display the Threadcrumb interface in Chrome’s
side panel
- host_permissions: claude.ai: To detect saveable content
on Claude conversations
Pro features (when applicable)
Threadcrumb is currently free during early access. If a paid
Pro tier launches in the future, additional features may include
cross-device sync via cloud storage. If you opt into sync, your
saves would be transmitted encrypted to our sync provider. Sync
is opt-in and never on by default. The current free version
transmits no data anywhere.
Data deletion
You can delete individual items from the side panel, or clear
all your saves at once via Settings → Clear all saves.
Uninstalling the extension also removes all locally stored data.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, the new version will be posted at this
URL with an updated effective date. Significant changes will be
announced in the extension’s release notes.
